Midlands roundup: Columbia bounces Dreher

Columbia 21, Dreher 6

At Columbia, Columbia lost its starting quarterback to an injury, but used long runs by Chris Payne and Damario Jeffery to stay unbeaten.

Payne ran for 175 yards with a scoring run of 61 yards while Jeffrey scored on a 89-yard run and finished with 172 yards.

Lorenzo Boylas added the final score on a 10-yard run as the Capitals (3-0) ran for 409 yards and finished with 432 total yards.

Mike Tillman led the defense with his third interception of the season. Dreher fell to 0-2.

Crestwood 41, Blythewood 7

At Sumter, Treginald Wilson ran for three touchdowns and Terrence Wilson added two more as Crestwood (2-0) rolled to 484 offensive yards.

Treginald Wilson scored on runs of 1, 7, and 12 yards and finished with 76 yards. Terrence Wilson finished with 226 yards rushing, including runs of 5 and 56 yards.

Blythewood (0-2) finished with 42 yards on 44 offensive plays.

At White Knoll, the Timberwolves stopped a two-point conversion run in overtime to secure the victory.

White Knoll trailed 14-0 before getting a 1-yard run by Steven Cagle and a 20-yard scoring pass from Brad Huffman to Hunter Counts.

Counts scored on a 10-yard pass from Cagle to begin the overtime and Skylar Walker added the extra point.

Denmark-Olar 35, C.A. Johnson 0

At Denmark, Anthony Holman threw for 230 yards and four touchdowns and added another score on the ground.

Holman finished 18-for-28 through the air and ran for 44 yards on five carries.. Treaver Workman had 9 catches for 130 yards and one score and Kenneth Jennings had 83 yards on seven catches and two touchdowns.

Denmark-Olar improves to 1-1. C.A. Johnson falls to 0-2.

Keenan 48, Bethune-Bowman 6

At Columbia, The Raiders picked up their first win of the season, thanks to a monsterous 21-point second quarter.

Keenan, 1-1, also scored 14 in the second and didn’t allow a touchdown until the fourth.

The Raiders play host to C.A. Johnson next week.

Calhoun County 39 Edisto 7

At Calhoun County, David Sims passed for 145 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown to lead Calhoun County (2-0). Jermaine Bull added 145 yards rushing.

Defensively for Calhoun County, Brandon Golson had four sacks, and linebacker Tajh Cheeseboro produced 20 tackles.

Edisto falls to 1-2.

At Johnsonville, North Central (1-1) made three first-half scores hold up in the non-region victory.
