Designs sports content, both assigned and generated on own initiative. Completes work within set deadline. Completes work that is free from factual, style and grammar errors. Works with reporters and editors to ensure page design corresponds with tone and news value of stories. Demonstrates mastery of techniques: use of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark, fonts, color and other technology. Bachelor’s degree required. At least two years’ experience at a daily newspaper required. College journalism experience and internships with daily newspapers are preferred. Must demonstrate regular and reliable attendance. MARKETING/SPECIALTY PUBLICATIONS – MARKETING MANAGER (Math, Spelling): Designs and implements image and branding campaigns including advertising, online and circulation promotions and community sponsorship opportunities. Manages Marketing and Specialty Publications creative staff, ensuring highest design quality and standards, meeting of deadlines, completion of creative projects/needs. Plays integral role in coordinating design responsibilities and assignments for launch of new publications. Complex job requiring high level of decision-making, supervision, production, creative design, deadline discipline, computer skills and hands-on work. Interacts with key managers and staff in all departments, as well as advertisers, business and community partners and other media contacts. Must be proficient with Macintosh operating system, QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Must have excellent verbal, written and creative design skills as well as ability to develop and produce creative advertising or marketing campaigns. Must work well independently and think clearly under pressure. College degree in art, advertising, design, communications or business marketing preferred. CIRCULATION – DISTRICT MANAGER, COLUMBIA AREA (Math, 3-Year Driving Record): Responsible for home delivery and single copy newspaper sales within assigned territory. Duties include recruiting and contracting with newspaper carriers and ensuring customer satisfaction and excellent service within district. Good communication skills and basic math/bookkeeping abilities necessary, as well as an excellent driving record. Must be available to work early morning hours, weekends and some holidays and have ability to lift newspaper bundles weighing approximately 50 pounds from ground level into a vehicle or onto a pallet.
